Nicola from our Wigan branch recently returned from an educational trip sailing onboard the stunning Cunard Queen Elizabeth! We caught up with her to find out all about her amazing experience…

“We set sail from Barcelona, home of Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia and artworks by Miro and Picasso and headed towards our first destination, the beautiful bay of Naples! Picture the scene… a drive along one of Europe’s most famous coastlines accompanied by views of the elegant islands of Capri and Ischia with the distant, and truly magnificent, Mount Vesuvius bringing the whole scene together. 🌄

After this we made our way to the gorgeous Sorrento known for Limoncello, olives and its main square Piazza Tasso. Yes, of course I had to sample the delicious pizza and gelato the city has to offer and I can safely say it lives up to the hype! My voyage ended in the ‘Eternal City’ of Rome. Make sure to add The Vatican City and Colosseum to your list as these historical sights are a must! 🌏

But our time onboard was just as special as our time on land! Indulge in fine dining from the extensive choice onboard. This ranges from the main Britannia restaurant or Grills depending on your stateroom booked. Not forgetting specialty dining including Steakhouse at Verandah where both the service and the food was absolutely outstanding! From the King’s Court and Lido buffet options to The Golden Lion pub (great if you want a taste of home with traditional style fish and chips), there’s something for everyone. But that’s not all! Want to indulge in an extra bit of luxury? Why not opt for breakfast in bed with 24-hour complimentary room service, perfect for those lazy sea mornings! 🥞

Don’t forget to save space for Cunard’s world famous afternoon tea which is served daily in the grand Queens Room. The white gloved waiters give you a firsthand experience of the ‘White Star Service’ you can only experience with Cunard. But living the life of luxury doesn’t end there! Sailing on the Cunard Elizabeth offers an opportunity to experience signature moments such as one of their spectacular Gala Balls, where the whole ship is themed and guests may choose to dress up in style and embrace an extra special evening. ✨

We were spoiled for choice with entertainment ranging from a show in the Royal Court Theatre, a relaxed drink in the Golden lion pub, cocktails in the Commodore Club accompanied by a live pianist or a boogie in the Yacht Club! A real highlight of the trip for me was a fascinating presentation by their insight speaker Sir Steve Redgrave, showcasing the tales and determination of his Olympic success. It’s not every day you get to hear from one of our greatest and most cherished national treasures. 🥇

Special Occasion – TOP TIP! Why not enjoy a cocktail in a private lounge before the show. Indulge in chocolate treats & Laurent – Perrier Champagne in your own Royal Theatre private stage box. 💎”
