Sian from our Cruise Call Centre recently explored Fred Olsen’s Balmoral! Here’s what she had to say about her experience…

“From the moment we stepped onboard, every staff member went above and beyond! From a friendly ‘hello’ as you passed in the hallway to finding out more about each guest and answering questions about life at sea, we were made to feel so welcome. 💙

A great highlight of the ship is how easy it is to access. Setting sail from the Port of Tyne, this is a great option for any customers in the North East who don’t want to travel too far. The port itself is really easy to find and had one of the easiest check in experience i’ve ever had! 🛳️

Fred Olsen owns 3 ships, all of which are perfect for customers looking for a more intimate feel while onboard. We found it super easy to navigate our way around to find our cabins and all of the facilities. However this doesn’t take away from the amount of space onboard! You will always be able to
find a spot to relax and watch the stunning scenery go by. 🌅

We toured the open air spaces of the deck. From pools, hot tubs and the lovely Marquee Bar, there are plenty of spaces to sit back and enjoy a spot of sunbathing on those relaxing sea days. The ship also has a good sized gym with fitness classes such as pilates and yoga offered onboard at no extra charge! As well as a rejuvenating spa providing reasonably priced treatments for that perfect bit of ‘me’ time. 🧖

We enjoyed a fabulous breakfast in the Observatory Lounge located on the top deck. By day you can marvel at the breathtaking views from the front of the ship and by evening the black mirrored ceiling and inbuilt twinkling lights make you feel as though you’re looking up at the night sky! ✨

All the food was second to none! We enjoyed a lovely 4 course lunch in the Avon Restaurant where the onboard Sommelier is on-hand to advise which wine pairings will be the perfect accompaniment for your chosen meal which feels really special. 🍷

We visited the two specialty dining restaurants in the evening, Vasco and Colours & Tastes which certainly did not disappoint! My favourite had to be Colours & Tastes Restaurant. The beautiful coloured decor and glassware made it such a unique experience and the large windows providing spectacular views as you dine just topped it off! 🥘

At only £10 per person when pre-booking, you can get a taste of the locally bought food from the destination you are porting in that day. This is such a great way to really immerse yourself in the local culture even when your back on the ship at the end of a busy day.📍”
